One month before my 55th birthday I went on my first ever solo trip. As I sat in JFK, waiting to board my flight to Heathrow, I knew something deep within me would be forever altered.

Traipsing through the English and Welsh countryside on my own was exactly what my soul needed. I stayed in Glastonbury, Angelsey and Pembroke. I explored castles, abbeys and neolithic sites. I saw the Roman Baths, wandered the gardens of the Chalice Well, climbed to the top of the Tor and stood on the cliffs of King Arthur’s castle.

This trip was by no means the beginning of my transformation – that has been an ongoing process for several years. But it certainly released something that could never be put back in its box.

This was an amazing spiritual journey into myself. I highly recommend that everyone make such a pilgrimage to wherever speaks to your soul at some point in your life.

My only child is 22 and will be off to Japan soon. I am married and that is complicated. We are not currently living together. But this blog is about me, my adventures and my journey through self-discovery. I am planning to take many more solo trips and will tell you all about them, and my discoveries, as I go.
